About the Alumni Society

aboutpageCreated in 2004, the IST Alumni Society is the official group within the Penn State Alumni Association for graduates of the College of Information Sciences and Technology.

Mission Statement
The IST Alumni Society was established by the College of Information Sciences and Technology to maintain a professional network that can be leveraged by the College, students and alumni. As a society created by alumni for alumni, our continued goal is provide assistance to the College, its students and to each other via programs of mutual benefit.

Purpose
The purpose of the Society shall be to stimulate the continued interest of all graduates and former students of the College of Information Sciences and Technology (the ‘College’).  The Society acts as a resource to the Dean, faculty, students, and staff to further the interests of the College and of the Information sciences and technology as a whole by striving to: a) meet students needs; b) serve as a communication link among the alumni, the College, and the community; c) assist in the development of supportive friendships and fundraising for the College; d) recognize the achievements of alumni, students, and faculty; and recruit new members.

Some of the society’s activities include:

  • Giving feedback to the College about changes and additions to IST academic programs
  • Informing prospective students about IST majors and careers in IST
  • Mentoring current IST students
